The best game fishing availability on and around Prince of Wales Island is late May to early September each year. Two of the best freshwater opportunities are the summer (June - August) coho run from Neck Lake near Whale Pass, and the Klawock River late August through September, where millions of smolt are released from that hatchery each year.
